About Pooali Falls

In the depths of Wayati Gorge is Pooali Falls, a small two tiered waterfall totalling about 10 metres in height, separated by a nice pool in the middle. The upper section is a nice twisting cascade, while the lower tier is a more straightforward plunging drop. The falls are difficult to photograph all at once though on the featured image on this page of the lower falls the upper falls are just visible in the top right corner. Pooali Falls are really more of a side attraction to the larger falls further down Porra Creek and would not justify the three day return walk on their own, but nontheless if you make the effort to trek into Wayati Gorge they are worth seeking out.

For detailed track notes see the Redwater Falls page, which describes the full 3 day hike including the steep descent to Pooali Falls from the top of Wayati Gorge.

Pooali is a bastardisation of the Aboriginal word Pooalih, meaning "two", obviously meant to signify the two tiered falls.
