About Marriotts Falls

A short drive from Mt Field National Park is Marriotts Falls, flowing along Marriotts Creek, near the township of Tyenna.  From the carparking area, The track commences walking along side Tyenna River.  The track is well defined, and easy to follow for a short distance, until you reach a grass plain clearing from the forest.  At this point, you will need to try and locate metal poles with metallic arrows that attempt to point you in the correct direction.  These markers will guide you through the grass plains back onto a track that enters a new section of forest on the north western side of the grass plains.  At this point, the track is, again, quite easy to follow.

The track to Marriotts Falls is generally in very good condition.  Like all forest walks in Tasmania, expect muddy patches, and fallen trees over the path, which you will need to negotiate. Thankfully, Marriotts Falls is reasonably maintained, and after a steady walk of at least 30 minutes, you will reach Marriotts Falls, an impressive segmented waterfall which drops 25 metres in rainforest surrounds.

The falls were named for the Marriott brothers who worked on the Great Western Railway in the 1890's and lived in the area.
