About Flynns Falls

Cascading down the eastern face of Cradle Mountain are a series of tall and spectacular waterfalls flowing into Flynns Tarn, unoffically known as Flynns Falls. The falls are seasonal with the photo on this page taken in August after overnight rain. The tall, cliff-diving upper sections of the falls that drain out of a small tarn often flow dry, though the cascading lower section with a more significant plateau as a catchment area likely retains some flow for much of the year.

Whether the falls are flowing or not the Lake Rodway Track is a spectacular hike, and is a great alternative day 1 Overland Track with a night at the Scott-Kilvert Memorial Hut. The times are distances on this page are reflective of a return hike to the hut, though most hikers would visit the hut as part of an multi-day hike either on the Overland Track, or making a circuit of the network of tracks at Cradle Mountain.
