About Twin Jet Falls

In the foothills of the Hartz Mountains is a series of four waterfalls on an unnamed tributary to Foaming Creek, unofficially known as the "Twin Falls Complex"; the name deriving from the largest, and final falls in the set, Twin Jet Falls.

To find Twin Jet Falls and the rest of the complex, turn onto the Arve Loop Road from Arve Road, then take a left turn onto an unnamed spur road, heading uphill along this little used, muddy road (4WD/AWD recommended) until you come to another fork in the road where it's best to park and use as a turning circle (GPS coords for parking -43.1545, 146.76135). From the parking spot, head back down the road about 30 metres to the closest point between the road and falls, and down towards the creek.

Twin Jet Falls are 80 metres downstream from Twin Cascade Falls, and by this point you will have visited three nice waterfalls, but the final push downstream is well worth the effort. Now out of the burnt regrowth of higher up, it's still hard going through thick rainforest on steep slopes, but in much more pleasant surrounds and with easier footing. As you approach Twin Jet Falls, similar to Twin Cascade, a wide route needs to be taken to avoid the cliffline, as you descend into the dark rainforest depths surrounding the falls. It's a stunning environment around the base of the falls, seemingly worlds away from the road only a couple hundred metres away, and the falls are a unique and spectacular sight, plunging 15 metres in their twin style with an overhanging cliff possible to get behind the falls (though you may cop a bit of a shower).

The whole Twin Falls Complex is a challenging mission, but a very rewarding way to spend a couple of hours in the Southern Tassie rainforest.
