About Tunnel Bay Falls

Tunnel Bay Creek flows into the Tasman Sea at Tunnel Bay, a popular diversion from Shipsterns Bluff and Cape Raoul. What is less well known however is that Tunnel Bay Creek features a 30 metre, three tiered waterfall just a short walk from the carpark that leads to those famous destinations. While no track accesses the falls, they are just a short diversion from the old Tunnel Bay Track, which begins just back down the road from the Cape Raoul carpark and features a cool vintage sign.

Follow the track towards the creek for 800 metres, being careful to stay within the fenced out track as it passes a private residence. It is worth mentioning that this portion of the track including the falls is on private property, so be mindful of this and be respectful to ensure the owners maintain public access to the area. As you approach the creek and begin to hear the falls, find a good location to drop off the track and descend towards the falls. There is no made track and it is relatively steep, though mostly open forest and a short descent leads you to the base of the cascading upper falls, and further scrambling can bring you to the impressive middle falls, featured in the main photo on this page, and the smaller lower drop. All up the falls drop at least 30 metres and are impressive after rain, though in summer the creek regularly runs completely dry.
