Hobart, Tasmania, Tasmania
Situated on the foot hills of Mt. Wellington, Silver Falls is a delightful small waterfall of approximately 3 - 4 metres in height flowing on Browns River. With multiple tracks that can be taken to get to Silver Falls, we opted to start our walk in from the suburb of Ferntree, parking our vehicle near Huon Road near the commencement of the Pipeline Track. Walking west, the Pipeline Track is wide and suitable for mountain bikes as well as hikers, with signage at track intersections directing you to places to see. After about 5 to 10 minutes you will be directed to turn right onto the Silver Falls Track, and a further few minutes walking will take you directly to Silver Falls. A small bridge crossing the Browns River provides a wonderful view of Silver Falls, and a small area on the side of the waterfall gives you a view of the waterfall from a higher angle.
From Silver Falls you can continue walking along other tracks, some of which will take you higher up Mt. Wellington, and others that loop around back to Ferntree. All in all, a very quick delightful walk very suitable for families with children.
