About Old House Creek Falls

Old House Creek Falls is the unofficial name of a waterfall situated on Old House Creek, near Lake Rowallan.  At appromximately 20 metres in height flowing over several tiers, It is particularly pretty after rain or snow.  However it is located on a watercourse that tends to trickle so planning an excursion to this waterfall should be considered after excellent rain fall or snow.

How to Access Old House Creek Falls

There are two ways to reach Old House Creek Falls.  If you do not have a robust 4WD, the easiest way is to drive down Mersey Forest Road and park your vehicle at the start of the Lees Paddocks Track.  This area isn't sign posted but if you use your GPS and have researched your maps, the car parking area is obvious.

From the carpark, walk along a muddy track along Lees Paddocks Track, and cross over a bridge that spans the Mersey River.  Once on the other side of the bridge, a short walk will have you at an intersection of the track.  Turn right and walk along West Rowallan Track.  This track is very easy to navigate and easy to walk along.  The track runs alongside Lake Rowallan providing pretty views within this mountainous region.  It takes aboutt 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the waterfall.

The 2nd way to Reach Old House Creek Falls is by following a rough 4WD track along the Western side of Lake Rowallan.  a 4WD with high clearance is recommended.  Using a 4WD you can drive all the way to the waterfall.  However, the track isn't used often and fallen trees, and overgrown brush should be expected.
