About Cuckoo Falls

Cuckoo Falls is a waterfall located near Scottsdale in North-East Tasmania. A once easily accessible waterfall, a landslide in the region forced Parks and Wildlife (PWS) to close the track to the waterfall. Although it is still possible to reach the waterfall if you're an experienced hiker, the track is very overgrown (and non-existant in parts) making the trek to Cuckoo Falls a lot slower.  It is recommended that a GPS with a topographical map that has the original track route be used so you can follow the route as closely as possible.
The waterfall is larger than the photo shows, and is surrounded by big boulders covered in moss.

In October 2022, significant floods damaged the area around Cuckoo Falls, destroying the boardwalk and bridges on the early part of the walk. The floods also changed the appearance of Cuckoo Falls substantially, destroying the mossy environs around the waterfall and clearing out many large logs and boulders, making the falls appear several metres taller than before the floods.
