About Cam Falls

An impressively powerful waterfall plunging 20 metres over a vertical basalt cliff, Cam Falls is a hidden gem located right below Oonah Road between Oonah and Tewkesbury.

While the waterfall itself is in a small public reserve, to access the base you have to go through private property, and thus permission needs to be sought from the landowners to hike down to the bottom. There is no track into the gorge, however, and the route down is very steep and dangerous, so shouldn't be attempted without adequate bushwalking experience and safety gear.

If you don't want a difficult hike there is a publicly accessible lookout right at the top of the falls that provides a far easier and safer way to view them. A short trail on the eastern side of the river leads to a lookout railing allowing you to look down the length of the waterfall and across the gorge towards some impressive basalt columns, a feature of the area.
