Silver Falls is the first waterfall on a walking circuit of 4 other waterfalls; Castra Falls and Step Falls, as well as Secret Place. Your journey commences the car parking area, where you are greeted with literature, and a sign explaining what to expect on your walk. From there, your first glimpse of the upper tier of Silver Falls is only 5 minutes into your walk. The Lower tier, that takes a few more minutes to reach, is where the real joy is, with the waterfall surrounded by lush ferns, in an amphitheatre type setting.
The track is well signed, and if you decide to do the complete circuit, you should allow a minimum of 2 hours to comfortably get to all waterfalls.
Many websites, as well as government maps (including Tasmaps) have incorrectly documented the true location of Silver Falls, often confusing it with the location of Castra Falls. However, the signage on the Castra circuit correctly takes you to the correct waterfall.
