About Meribah Falls

Meribah Falls is a moderately sized waterfall situated just north of Chapter Lake on Moses Creek, accessible by doing a circuit hike that will take you to Horeb Falls and Grail Falls as well.  At an altitude of 970 metres above sea level, Meribah Fall is an alpine hike, requiring hiking through snow and ice during winter periods. Meribah Falls is the least impressive of the 3 waterfalls, and a very steep descent to moses creek to view the waterfall is required from the cliffs above.

About the Hike

The hike commences from the end of Mersey Forest Road. You commence your walk along a muddy track, and at times is not well marked. After about 20 minutes you will reach a foot suspension bridge that crosses Jacksons Creek. On the other side is a footwear cleaning station that you will need to use before commencing your hike. The track from this point on is not well marked, and a GPS and/or maps and compass are a necessity to reach Meribah Falls. The track will guide you between two hills eventually requiring the crossing of a creek.  Ribbon tied to trees on the other side of the creek will guide you along the track to Grail Falls, and if you choose to visit Grail Falls before seeing Meribah Falls, then this is a great route to take. The hike will climb uphill, passing a few small creeks on your ascent. When you near Chapter Lake, you will need to leave the track and walk northwards off track to reach Meribah Falls. This is hard walking, with thick bush, and can be slow progress.

Alternatively, you could hike to Horeb Falls (read the hiking notes for Horeb Falls) and then proceed to Meribah Falls from there.
