About Crossing Falls

Standing at 16 metres high and flowing with considerable power, Crossing Falls is one of the many Styx Valley waterfalls that has managed to escape any sort of notoriety despite being sizeable and very impressive. The falls have no official name, with the Crossing Falls moniker coming from the dicey log crossing we had to use to get across to the best views at the base of the falls given the strong flow of the creek on our visit.

To access Crossing Falls, use a GPS to navigate the maze of unsigned forestry roads off Styx Road on the western side of the creek until you arrive at a deadend at the closest point possible to the falls. From here, it is just a matter of navigating through the trackless bush, initially through regrowth then old growth rainforest, before descending steeply towards the base of the falls. A GPS and navigational skills are required here, as there are very few indicators of the best direction to travel and it is very easy to get lost.
